I visited Casablanca yesterday -- to visit a friend who lived with me when I lived here before. It's so nice to see old friends!

The thing that struck me immediately about Casablanca is how big it is -- and interestingly, that makes it so cosmopolitain and yet so dirty and "popular" at the same time. I took a picture of one of the public beach areas in Casa, and I was immediately struck by just how large the beach is, and how many people were out.

Morocco is a much larger country than Jordan, and even looking at a picture of the becah you can tell that -- larger and yet, Casa has all the trappings of a large city. There are so many street children and so many people are begging for help. It is hard to not help, but at the same time, you cannot give money to everyone -- we simply don't have enough change.

It is so easy to be come desensitized to need in a place where so many are asking for help.
