The Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Education (VPGE) has some great resources for facilitating the advising relationship and helping students prepare for meetings with their advisors. The Annual Doctoral Student Degree- and Career-Progress Meeting Worksheet is one example of resource that has useful categories that could be included in an educational planning ePortfolio.
This worksheet is intended to facilitate an annual conversation between a faculty advisor and doctoral advisee, focusing on the student's progress to degree and career plans. It can be used to help the student and the faculty advisor:
- take stock of the student's accomplishments in the past year
- discuss near- and long-term plans, and
- develop a strategy for realizing those plans
