The goal of this project was to create an arcade game that combined two sports. In a team of four, we designed and built the electronics, programming, and mechanics of the game. My game, Synchroboarding, combines elements of synchronized swimming and skateboarding into a new sport, synchronized skateboarding. In the game, two players stand on balance boards facing each other and have to cover "targets" with their hands at the same time. The targets will light up one at a time on both sides of the game and will only advance if both players are balanced and covering their target. To provide tactile feedback, the balance boards vibrate when a player is off-balance and the magnitude of the vibration depends on how off-balance they are. The main challenge of this game was to detect and process events from both players and communicate them between two micro-controllers, since this game is cooperative and requires synchronization.
